Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
A Lesson Learned
You maybe like me believed for decades that due to my living in the U.S. I didn’t have to think or deal with evil presence, or demonic possession. Those sorts of things happened in 3rd world countries, especially India where they have hundreds if not thousands of idols they worship. Once I read Pastor Hagee’s book, I found that belief totally challenged and eventually I had to change my beliefs. Evil and demons exist here in the U.S. just as much as they do outside of our borders.
The Three Heavens
In John Hagee’s book, “The Three Heavens,” he writes of an incident he came across. He was in his first pastorate when a caller contacted him and asked him to come and pray for her, she thought she had a demon in her. He thought to himself, no you don’t, but I’ll play along. Such a request definitely made him uncomfortable, but he went ahead and went out to this woman’s house to pray for her. When he arrived she met him at the door dressed in a tailored white blouse and slacks. Her house was immaculate in an upper middle class neighborhood. He soon found out that she was college educated, the wife of a prosperous businessman.
In her living room she relayed that she played with tarot cards while her husband was away on business trips. The week before she had been doing just this, when the front door opened on its own accord, and she felt an evil presence come into her house and enter her. She then relayed that since this happened she has been overcome with evil, vulgar thoughts and an impulse to murder someone.
A Woman’s Deliverance
Pastor Hagee didn’t know what to do initially, so he started by reading the Biblical story of Jesus expelling the legion of demons out of the demon possessed man in Galilee (Mark 5:1-20). As he started to do this the woman began to physically contort herself and he began to feel a very evil presence within the room. Her face became liken to a vicious feline creature ready to pounce. Then he heard a masculine voice come out of the woman and in a deep guttural voice state, “I hate you, John Hagee.”
With that, Pastor Hagee went into an attitude of prayer and began to command the evil presence to come out of the woman. With every mention of Jesus, the screams coming forth from the woman lessoned. Eventually after several minutes of praying and commanding the evil spirit(s) to leave the woman it did and she ended up collapsing on the floor in a heap. A few minutes later she awoke and asked why she was on the floor. He informed her that she had been delivered from the demonic force. She told him she knew she had been delivered because her mind was once more her own, the evil thoughts and feelings of an evil presence within her were gone.
She started to attend his church along with her husband and kids. It wasn’t too long before both her and her spouse became believers.
A Personal Episode
I can understand it when Pastor Hagee stated above that he became very ill at ease when he realized there was an evil presence in the room. I know when I’ve been in the presence of an evil spirit, I get a cold chill up my back. I can sense evil within the person by just looking at their eyes. I distinctly remember one person, I came across many years ago, who had just finished medical school and his eyes were icy cold. He had no emotion whatsoever. I found out later, that he had murdered his parents when he was 15, had spent the next 10 years in a youth correctional facility and then upon discharge, somehow managed to be admitted to medical school.
Once he finished medical school he became a family physician, but never married. He worked with the migrant Hispanic population. He likely lived a lonely life with no one in it who was friendly with him. Indeed, demonic possession is a real and almost palpable thing.
We must remember that we are rulers of this world which includes the spiritual world. We have the power to command them to leave and leave they must. So just remember take heart, you have overcome this world, because Christ lives in you and He has the keys to the kingdom.
