God’s Purpose For Your Life is to Glorify Him Every Day

What is my purpose?

I’ve heard those in the millennial generation are wanting to know their purpose in life, why are they alive, what are they here for, what are they to contribute to, so as to make this world a better place?  A tough question for sure.

When you begin to think of what is your purpose in life you need to begin by asking what is God’s purpose for your life?  You are not here haphazardly, God has a purpose for your life, He has a plan for you, do you know what it is?

One essential idea you need to wrestle with is that God put you here on earth to glorify Him.  What does that mean?  It means that you are to glorify Him in everything you do, you are to reflect to the world around you God’s innate being alive in you.  You are to be the light of the world, the light in a very dark place.  You are to shine God’s glory so as to draw those who don’t know Him to Him.

God’s Purpose for You

Think about these verses to help clarify your purpose:

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails

                                    Prov. 19:21

or

He thwarts the purposes of the peoples, but the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

                                    Psa. 33:10b, 11

or

I will glorify your name forever

                        Psa. 86:12b

Being in His purpose for your life

So how do you glorify the Lord in all you do, each and every day?  You follow His lead, you obey Him, you honor Him, you speak and encourage others as though it was Christ speaking to them, you keep your heart pure (Phil. 4:8), you serve others and you love Him.

Each and every day you should be growing closer to Him and further away from the pull of this world.  You should be moving into being more like Him.  Some days it will be small steps that you take, other days it will be large steps, but steps moving towards becoming more godly, more Christ-like is what He purposes for you to do.

Some of you work as a teacher, others work as a computer engineer, yet others work in medicine.  Your career is just the means through which you glorify God to others.  It isn’t nearly as important as how you live and spend your time.  For your purpose is to glorify God each and every day in everything you do.

If you remember every morning when you wake up to glorify God that day then you have fulfilled your purpose that God gave to you.  Praise God that He wants to reveal Himself to the world through you today and every day!
